By using its patented regenerating charging system the battery's internal anode and cathode are cleaned and brought to a condition very similar to when the battery was manufactured. Souvenir Cranwell's UK patented technology is based on a Thomas Edison patent of 1922. Edison discovered that the main reason alkaline batteries becomes discharged is the accumulation of impurities and foreign matter on and in the positive electrode and the coating of the active material with a scale or crust which seriously impairs the efficient operation of cell.

Edison’s patent regenerates the positive electrode elements by thoroughly cleaning them thereby bringing them back to their original state and efficiency. To clean the electrodes Edison took them out of the battery and put them into a boiling mixture of glycerine, water and caustic soda for 72 hours. The electrodes were then replaced into the battery which then became live.

Souvenir Cranwell's Battery Regenerator replicates this process by thoroughly and gently cleaning the electrodes and creating a large number of areas free of sulphatation at the electrode-electrolyte interface over an average 72 hour period but does it inside the battery itself. This process is absolutely safe and does no damage to the battery. Nothing is added to the battery; the process simply releases the potential that is already there. One battery can be regenerated up to 100 times.
