If your PC and its peripherals require an 8-way plug adaptor you should be concerned about global warming and your electricity bill. Many people turn off their PCs when not in use, but monitors, printers, speakers and modems tend to be left on standby. The IntelliPanel switches off 7 peripheral sockets when the master socket isn't drawing any power. 5 seconds after you shut down your PC it cuts the power to peripherals. You could switch off the power at the wall, but this is far more convenient. It also provides surger protection, and has protected sockets for phone, broadband and modem connections. A constant criticism of the otherwise excellent IntelliPlug range is that using a laptop is tricky. The IntelliPlug works by detecting when your PC's power draw drops, which, if you're charging a laptop, is never significant, so your peripherals stay on. By connecting the USB connector on the OneClick, the IntelliPlug detects the voltage from your laptop's sockets - as long as they're healthy, your peripherals will shut down even if your laptop is charging.
