Formerly from the marine industry the founders experienced high levels of pollution in the cruise industry caused by the use of toxic cleaning chemicals. Cruise lines were regularly being fined by the US Coast Guard.
Delphis was set up to find a solution and completed four years of R&D in May 2008. This hard work has paid off: Delphis has been awarded more European Eco-Label Certificates than other European cleaning chemical manufacturer.
At Delphis, we believe that everybody has the power to make a difference to the environment and that our product range is just one tool.
Our vision is to be the world leading innovator of environmentally safe cleaning products. We will work with the world's best manufacturers and distributors to ensure that our product range is as widely available as possible.

Packaging
  ●   Our bottles and labels are 100% recyclable. Our level of focus is such that we stipulate that the label ink and label glue is environmentally friendly. Even our trigger sprays have plastic springs in them to make the recycling process more efficient, and we are constantly looking for innovations in packaging that push the environmental boundaries.
  ●   Under the Society of the Plastics Industry resin identification coding system, we only use products with recycle levels of 1 and 2, which is the highest possible.
  ●   We have eliminated all unnecessary packaging and look to ship concentrates where possible. We manufacture in England for the UK market, and as international interest in our products grow, we will look to manufacture locally to reduce our carbon miles impact.
Transportation
Our Freight Transport Management strategy is optimised to produce maximum efficiency:
We are in constant discussion with our logistic partners to reduce emissions through design improvements and new technologies. These include increased aerodynamics, weight reductions, reduced engine friction, improved engine and transmission designs, more efficient tires, and more efficient accessories.
We ship as much of our products in concentrate form as possible, which reduces our total transport needs and reduces our carbon miles - having a positive impact on our carbon footprint.
All our products are manufactured in the UK (Peterborough)
We have challenged ourselves to price our products in a way that allow the maximum number of consumers to use them. This is seen in our mission statement:
Giving everybody the ability to make a difference and make a positive contribution to the environment.
Consumers still want to buy green, despite the current economic climate, and signs that overall consumer spending is down. Research from the Carbon Trust Standard states that 62% of consumers say environmental concerns influence their purchasing decisions "the same as a year ago", with a over a quarter saying they now care more about being green than they did last year (12 March 09)
The Health and Safety of our end users is a prime concern for us and at the centre of our R&D strategy. Our products were first developed to protect cleaning liquid users in the confined spaces of ships. Our products do not require toxic, harmful or corrosive labeling They protect the health of its users.
Delphis works closely with its customers to continually push the boundaries of innovation with our cleaning products range.
This creates a win win win: the customer wins, the environment wins, and Delphis wins.
The holy grail of cleaning is to find the one product that has the ability to clean every surface. Delphis believe that they have gone a long way to achieve this, however continue to strive towards this goal. We believe that any environment can be cleaned with a maximum of three of our products.
Delphis is currently dedicating specific focus to developing ranges for the aviation, offshore oil rigs and cruise lines industries.
We value the strong working relationship we have with our consumers and welcome all the feedback that helps in pushing the boundaries.
Delphis worked with non-government bodies in Zimbabwe to try and find ecological solutions to the cholera epidemic.
We are very excited about work being done on a new range of products that will fit the retail consumer market and is working with Defra to develop and accredit much more specific product lines.
Some of our products are accredited with the EU Eco Label, known as the 'Flower' The Flower is the premier European award for the manufacture of ecological products. It is the European-wide symbol for products that satisfy stringent controls with respect to their effects on the environment and people. All products bearing the Flower have been checked by independent bodies to ensure they comply with strict ecological and performance criteria. The Flower is administered in the UK by the Defra, supported by the European Commission and all members states of the EU. The accreditation board includes representatives from industry, environmental protection groups and consumer organisations.
The Delphis range are the first cleaning products manufactured in the UK to be accredited with the FlowerOur products also comply with the EU Detergents Regulation 648/2004 and the European Biocidal Products Directive which comes into force in 2008. This legislation comes under the umbrella of the REACH Agreement which was set up by the EU to control and determine hazards associated with chemicals coming into, or manufactured, in the EU. It is designed to reduce the effect chemicals have on the environment, our health and our way of life. This legislation will dramatically affect the future of the cleaning industry. It will see the majority of chemicals currently used either banned or their use strictly monitored.
Our products comply with all the current and forthcoming legislation, giving you the edge over your competitorsThe new range of environment-and-employee friendly products are revolutionising the cleaning process. Developed from plant-based organic compounds, represents a breakthrough in the cleaning technology high power, non-toxic, non harmful, non-hazardous, totally biodegradable and extremely cost effective.
The range can save money by replacing multiple, hazardous chemical cleaners with more effective Delphis products that will improve health & safety (for employees and customers), eliminate storage space and help the environment.
The EU eco label is unique and is only granted to products that are manufactured using sustainable, reusable products and methods in the manufacturing process. EU Eco-Label certification is only granted after each product is blind tested against four comparable leading brands to prove their performance is equivalent to or better than the established brands.
The Flower is the premier European Environmental award and is granted after independent checks against strict ecological and performance criteria.
Manufacturing Assessment Cradle to Grave. Each element is checked against their individual environmental responsibility; Chemical ingredients, Transportation, Packaging, Labeling.
Performance Assessment Each applicant is tested against 5 of the leading products in its specific category and needs to match all 5 with an 85% success rate. Delphis achieved a 92% average pass rate.
The Flower is administered in the UK by Defra, supported by the European Commission and all 27 member states of the EU. The Eco labeling board includes representatives from industry, environmental protection groups and consumer organisations.
